Fees waived to help storm clean up

Householders are invited to drop off green waste caused by the storm at the Regional Resource Recovery Centre (RRRC) in Canning Vale - completely free of charge - until Monday, April 12 2010.

With the support of the State Government, the Southern Metropolitan Regional Council has waived fees for storm damage green waste processing at its RRRC, for a two-week period ending Monday, April 12 2010.

SMRC Chairman Cr Tony Romano urged residents to use the local and eco-smart alternative for the safe disposal of their storm damage green waste.

“We know residents are still cleaning up green waste on their properties after last week’s storm, and are looking for an environmentally sustainable way to recycle fallen branches and other green waste without dumping at the tip,” Cr Romano said.

“Providing this service to residents could not be possible without the support of the State Government and the West Australian Local Government Association.”
