The focus of the museum is to collect artifacts and other documentation, that relate specifically to the history of Melville - its suburbs, people, places, events and development. As far as possible, all periods of history will be represented.

The museum offers glimpses of Melville's history, from early settlement right through to modern suburbia. In particular, the collection will embrace much of the post World War II period, when Melville really began to develop and grow into what we see today.

Within the exhibitions, you can:

  • Discover the history of Melville from Aboriginal occupation to present day heritage

  • Discover the history of your suburb

  • Discover the meaning of your street name

  • Local Government History

  • Learn what resources are available and FREE to you

  • Comments: What are your interests in the Heritage and Museum Service

  • A local history officer can help with any research or school project.
