The Melville Discovery Centre formally known as the Municipal Museum explores the social history and the effects of change to the Melville area from Aboriginal settlement to the present day.
The focus of the museum is to collect artifacts and other documentation, that relate specifically to the history of Melville - its suburbs, people, places, events and development. As far as possible, all periods of history will be represented.
The museum offers glimpses of Melville's history, from early settlement right through to modern suburbia. In particular, the collection will embrace much of the post World War II period, when Melville really began to develop and grow into what we see today.
