NAIDOC Seniors Ball

 

The City of Melville, in partnership with the City of Cockburn, invites you to the NAIDOC Seniors Ball. This year’s theme is “Spirit of the Tent Embassy” 40 years on. The Noongar Radio will be broadcasting live at the event.

 

Date:               Tuesday, 3 July 2012.

Time:               10.00am to 2.30pm.

Venue:             City of Cockburn Seniors’ Centre, 9 Coleville Crescent, Spearwood.

Cost:               Gold coin donation (meals included).

NAIDOC Week

 

In light of NAIDOC Week, from 1 to 8 July, the City of Melville invites you to a free community celebration at Wireless Hill. NAIDOC Week celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and recognises the contributions of Indigenous Australians in various fields.

 

Enjoy a fun filled day with bush tucker from the barbeque, arts and crafts, story time around the campfire, music, cultural activities with Scott Chisholm, information stalls, tool making workshop, tree planting and blessing and prizes to be won!

 

Date:               Wednesday, 4 July 2012.

Time:               10.00am to 2.00pm.

Venue:             Wireless Hill, Telefunken Drive, Ardross.

Moorditj Yorgas Doll Display and Guest Speakers

 

A group of local Aboriginal women participated in a program at Willagee Community Centre where they created dolls while sharing their stories of identity and culture. The women invite you to hear their stories and view the dolls in hope that by sharing culture we can work towards Reconciliation.
