- Environmental Education Assistant (assist in providing education programs to schools and the community)
- Weed Control (learn what weeds are found in our area and help to eradicate them)
- Species Watch (in conjunction with Climatewatch, gathering data on native species in our area)
- Guided tours (Bush, building or other)
- Building and garden care
- And lots more!
Current Volunteer Days
Currently, we have a small, regular group of volunteers who visit Piney Lakes Reserve of a Friday morning, from 8:00am - 10:00am. They are tending to the high priority area of our reserve, in such tasks as weeding, mulching, hand-watering and planting. These times are altered during January and February, so we can avoid the heat!
1 hour or 1 week, every bit can help!
Ideally we would love a regular 'crew' for each session, however even if you come to just one of the watering days, your assistance is invaluable to the successful revegetation of the reserve.
All equipment will be provided including water trailer, buckets, and rakes. (Please bring your gardening gloves!) Our friendly staff will be on hand and assisting with each and every volunteer day. Tea and coffee will be available after each session to quench the thirst of the hardworking volunteers.
How do I get involved?
Simply contact the Environmental Education Officer on (08) 9364 0790 or email penelope.musgrove@melville.wa.gov.au and register your name to attend an information session or to arrange a meeting.
Should you be interested, at your first session you will be given a short induction and signed up as an official volunteer of the City of Melville. Children under the age of 18 are welcome to volunteer, and we have alternate times and opportunities for those aged 13 - 17 years. Please click here for more information on youth volunteering.
