We need your help! The newly established seedlings along our Aboriginal Heritage Trail will need some TLC over the summer months, and we need your help to take care of them.
Volunteer Days
The Aboriginal Heritage Trail is continuing to be developed adjacent to the Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre. With the help of some fantastic students from North Lake Senior Campus we have planted over 1000 native seedlings that need nurturing throughout the summer months.
We are inviting members of the community to come along on either a Tuesday or Friday morning from 8.00am to 10.00am, to assist in watering and maintaining the trail.
The watering days will occur every Tuesday and Friday commencing on 3 November 2009 and finishing on 2 March 2010. (with breaks for Christmas and New Year).
1 hour or 1 week, every bit can help!
Ideally we would love a regular 'crew' for each watering session, however even if you come to just one of the watering days, your assistance is invaluable to the successful revegetation of the trail.
All equipment will be provided including water trailer, buckets, gloves and rakes. Our friendly staff will be on hand and assisting with each and every volunteer day. Tea and coffee will be available after each session to quench the thirst of the hardworking volunteers.
How do I get invovled?
Simply contact the Environmental Education Officer on (08) 9364 0790 or email benjamin.kelly@melville.wa.gov.au and register your name.
At your first session you will be given a short induction and signed up as an official volunteer of the City of Melville. Children under the age of 18 are welcome to attend, however must have adult supervision at all times.
