Learn and practice your English while having fun.
Have you ever discovered how complex it is to learn a new language?
People who speak English are very lucky because their language has become the world default for cross-cultural communication which means most people have never really had to learn another language to be understood in most parts of the world.
So in that context I ask you spare a thought for people of other nationalities who have been forced to come to terms with English and get their heads around phrases like the following:
• The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert, or
• Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear, or
• I did not object to the object;or
• When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes; or
• They were too close to the door to close it.
Thinking about our migrant residents, the City of Melville has been running English language classes since 1998.
The Melville Social English Club offers weekly conversation and grammar classes during school terms, in a friendly and relaxed environment, for beginners to the more advanced.
Classes cost $5.50 or $44.00 per term.
Discounts also apply for students who opt to attend more than one class per week.
