Liberty Swing

The Liberty Swing is an accessible swing for children who use a wheelchair, providing the opportunity for the whole family to experience the joy of having a swing in the park. It is located in the beautiful surroundings of the play area at Wireless Hill, Booragoon.

 

The swing is a plastic moulded capsule with a chest strap and lock-in devices for wheelchairs.  It is accessed via a movable ramp, so wheelchairs can be manoeuvred into and out of the swing easily.  The swing also contains an internal pop-out seat for people who may not use a wheelchair, but who still need support of the seatbelt, or access to the swing by wheelchair.  As in all swings, friends and family join in with pushing the Liberty Swing and the enjoyment begins.

 

As the swing utlises a strap and ramp that are accessed with a key (for safety reasons), collections can be made from the following:

        Normal Office Hours

8.30am - 5.00pm

Melville Aquatic Fitness Centre  

Marmion Street Booragoon

  Evenings and Weekends   

 

Please ensure that all instructions are read prior to use:

· Only carer plus person using the swing to be in the swing area at any one time

· Carer to remain in the swing area with the person at all times

· Carer to be over 16 years of age

· Maximum combined weight of person and wheelchair must not exceed 250 kg

The City of Melville will not be liable for any injuries resulting from the inappropriate use of the equipment
