Introduction to Citizenship
The City of Melville conducts Australian Citizenship Ceremonies every two months at the Civic Centre 10 Almondbury Road Booragoon.
All new citizens are officiated by His Worship the Mayor, Russell Aubrey. Certificates will be presented to all new Australian citizens at the ceremonies. The certificate will become legal proof of your Australian citizenship.
You will also be able to complete an electoral enrolment form which registers you on the electoral roll and allows you to vote. At the ceremony, you will also make a pledge to receive citizenship.
Regardless of background, Australian citizens have full and equal membership of our society, including all the legal and political responsibilities accompanying such a status.

- Thursday, 10 May at 6.00pm
- Thursday, 19 July at 6.00pm
- Thursday, 13 September at 6.00pm
- Thursday, 15 November at 6.00pm

Brief outline of the Process
After applying for Australian Citizenship approved candidates will receive notification from the Department of Immigration & Citizenship.
Currently the City of Melville conducts ceremonies every two months, invitations for ceremonies will be sent to approved candidates approximately six weeks prior to the ceremony providing all details for the event.
At the Ceremony approved candidates a will make either an Oath Pledge or an Affirmation Pledge for Citizenship depending on the choice made when completing the application for Citizenship and the receive a Certificate of Citizenship.
