The Cultural Vitality Plan is here!
During 2010 the City conducted extensive consultation with the community in order to develop its first Cultural Vitality Plan.
The Cultural Vitality Plan was developed after extensive consultation with the community in 2010 via an online forum, photovoice project, interviews with arts and cultural organisations and groups, and a community art project involving four primary schools across the City. Internal consultation also took place during 2011 to ensure maximum committment across the organisation.
The result is a Plan that identifies seven goals for enhancing and supporting cultural vitality in the City. A range of strategies and actions have been identified by different departments across the organisation to achieve these goals. The Cultural Vitality Plan is designed to be implemented over three years, from July 2011 - July 2014. Work has already begun!
Whilst the Plan was devised to give Council strategic direction, a public version is being prepared that will be available at Melville Libraries, Community Centres, the Civic Centre and online.
Thank you to all the people who participated in the consultation process. Your input has meant that we can better respond to community aspirations through our planning and delivery of events, activites and programs.
