Connecting Arts and Business

For arts organisations, connecting with the private sector can be a great way of securing financial or in-kind support to help your organisation to become sustainable and to grow.

Partnering... the benefits

For arts organisations, connecting with the private sector can be a great way of securing financial or in-kind support to help your organisation to become sustainable and to grow. Partnering with the right business could provide you with much needed in-kind support in the form of promotion, exposure or expertise.

For businesses connecting with the right arts organisation can provide you with inspiration, networking and broader exposure within their community, unique branding and an opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.

Arts Connecting Communities

In 2008 the City of Melville partnered with the Australia Business Foundation (AbaF) to present the 'Arts Connecting Communities' program. In July the City hosted a free 2-day seminar for arts organisations. The seminar covered:

  • The value of seeking sponsorship
  • How to find business partners and build relationships
  • Developing a business case
  • Securing donations and sponsorship

Currently the successful participants are building their capacity to build partnerships.

In October the City hosted a Business/Arts networking evening to enable participants from the seminar to meet with prospective partners.

Success Stories

During 2008 the Alfred Cove Arts Society, one of our workshop participants developed their partnership with The Silk Road Restaurant in Applecross. Both partners benefit from the arrangement. To read more about this success story click here.
