Get involved! Make your City a more vibrant and engaging place.
Upcoming Opportunities:
Public Art Commission - Melville Aquatic Centre
The city is now seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified artists to produce a public artwork for the entrance to the Melville Aquatic Fitness Centre in Booragoon. A Commission of $50,000 is to be awarded. Applications must be received by 5.00pm, Friday 8 June 2012.
To receive the Expression of Interest brief, please email hannah.katarski@melville.wa.gov.au
Network Now!
One of the findings of our Cultural Vitality Plan consultation was to develop a 'Melville Cultural Network'.
eNews
We are working hard to get a monthly Arts newsletter up and running. This will promote events and opportunities being offered by the City as well as an avenue for local artists, performers, community groups and creative enterprises to promote their events, activites and seek support from their community. Email hannah.katarski@melville.wa.gov.au to be notified when the eNews is up and running.
Fan of Facebook?
We have established a Melville Arts and Creatives Facebook Group. It is a place for Melville artists, community arts groups and creative enterprises to network and promote, connect and collaborate.
Banners in the Terrace Competition
Every year the Western Australian Local Government Association hosts the biggest community art project in the state. Councils submit a banner painted by an artist, school group or community group. The banners are then displayed along St Georges Terrace in Perth during August.
If you have a group that would be interested in painting the Melville banner in 2012, contact Hannah Katarski on hannah.katarski@melville.wa.gov.au. A community artist can be organised to support and lead a community group or school group if necessary.
More information can be found on the WALGA website.
Melville Art Awards
Entry forms for the Art Awards are available from February each year and close late April. View the City's Art Collection and public art on our Online Gallery.
