Heathcote Museum & Gallery
As part of a vibrant precinct the museum offers visitors an insight into the early importance of Point Heathcote and its vital role in the mental health facilities developed throughout Western Australia. The gallery aims to nurture the production, enjoyment and understanding of diverse art through engaging programs, innovation and excellence.
Museum exhibition themes:
- Discover the siginificance of the Point Heathcote (Goolugatup) site from Aboriginal to the present time.
- Learn about the Heathcote Mental Reception Home and the significant role it played in mental health practice in WA 1928 – 1996.

Site, Museum and Gallery Tours:
Site tours of the Heathcote Cultural Centre explore the siginificance of the site to Aboriginal people, white settlers and its later development into a mental health reception home. A gallery tour examines what is involved in curating an art exhibition.

The Heathcote Museum collection includes photographs, newspaper articles, maps and plans, oral histories and documents. It also contains a number of historical artefacts.
All resource material is available for the community to view for research purposes or just for those interested in the history of Point Heathcote.
