Councillor Susanne Taylor-Rees

Background

I have lived in Bicton for 15 years, an active member of the community with a family that supports me in addressing local concerns.

I ran a successful community campaign protecting Point Walter Reserve from phone towers, resulting in a new council policy covering all areas of environmental significance.   More recently I joined the Bicton Park Action Group opposing a power substation.   Health and environment are central to my volunteer work with Bicton Primary School and Bicton Environmental Action Group.   Through these campaigns I am keenly aware of several important issues:

• Good communication between residents and councillors;
• Retention of community assets;
• Protection and acquisition of public open space;
• Planning decisions that minimise loss of privacy during in-fill development;
• Well targeted council spending.  

I am enthusiastic and motivated with a can-do attitude to addressing local issues and I will strongly represent, protect and promote Attadale and Bicton.
