2009 Awards
Awards received in 2009 were in the areas of finance, customer service, environment, road safety, seniors and career development, among others.
Finance – Two City of Melville staff members were recognised for excellence in finance at the Local Government Managers Australia (LGMA) Finance Professionals Conference in February 2009. Each received the LGMA Finance Achievement Award.
Customer Service – In early 2009 the City of Melville received certification from the Customer Service Institute of Australia in line with the International Customer Service Standard (ICSS 2003 – 2006).
Environment – City of Melville Chief Executive Officer Dr Shayne Silcox was honoured for his proactive approach to environmental management with a commendation at the Environs Australia 2009 Sustainability Awards in Melbourne.
Road Safety – The City’s Engineering Design was highly commended in the Safe Roads and Roadsides category of the 2009 Roads and Transport Forum for its upgrade of The Esplanade in Mount Pleasant.
Seniors – The City of Melville’s Lifestyle Services was recognised for the provision of outstanding service to seniors through its Living Longer Living Stronger (LLLS) Program. The program won a Gold Excellence Award for its service to West Australian seniors as part of the inaugural LLLS Awards hosted by the Council of the Ageing (COTA) in October 2009.
Career Development – The City’s Lifestyle Services was again honoured, this time with the ‘Commitment to Professional Development’ Award at the Department of Sport and Recreation’s biennial Industry Awards in November 2009.
