People

The Museums and Local History team consists of:

  • Curator/Cultural Development Officer
  • Assistant Curator
  • Local History Officer
  • Museum and Gallery Officer located at the Heathcote Museum and Gallery.
  • Admin and Customer Liaison Officers (weekends) located at the Heathcote Museum and Gallery.

The Curator/Cultural Development Officer manages the museums and gallery sites and coordinates planning, collections and public programs. The Local History Officer provides information on a range of history matters and helps to implement a range of history programs in Museums. The Local History Officer runs tours at the Wireless Hill Telecommunications Museum and the Heathcote Cultural precinct site. 

Volunteers

Volunteers participate in the areas of collection management, events, exhibition development and administration. Projects have included developing the 25th Anniversary Wireless Hill Open Day event, the audit of Melville Discovery Centre collections and development of art exhibitions at Heathcote Museum and Gallery. 

Student Placements

Interested students from high schools and tertiary institutions are welcome to under take a work placement at one of the museum sites. There they will be able to develop their knowledge and skills in the areas of collections management, exhibitions and public program development.
