Food Saftey

The City of Melville Health Services team conducts a number of programs relating to food safety such as food premises inspections, food hygiene training and food sampling.

Food Premises Inspection

Health Services conducts up to 1200 inspections of all food premises within the City of Melville each year. This includes restaurants, cafes, child care centres, school canteens and food manufacturers.

Inspections are done to ensure that the premises comply with the food regulations and that food sold from these premises is safe for the public. Inspections are also done to follow up on complaints and allegations of food poisoning.

Food Hygiene Training

The City of Melville is a registered training organisation and offers a one-day Nationally Accredited Food Hygiene and Safety course on a monthly basis.

The couse provides training on all aspects of food hygiene, from cross contaminations and temperature control to food safety plans.

For further information on the course or to book a place please contact Erica Scott on 9364 0281.
