Monitors Greenhouse Emissions

The City of Melville has been monitoring greenhouse gas emissions for the past ten years. Emission targets have been set and the City is working hard to ensure these are achieved.

By observing trends in the sources of emissions abatement actions are developed to achieve the best results. Actions to date include:

  • The recovery of resources from all waste produced within the City, reducing emissions from the decomposition of organic waste in landfills.
  • Green Power is purchased for Council facilities such as the Melville Recreation Centre.
  • A partnership with Murdoch University forges the way for the placement of roof top wind turbines in residential areas.
