Manages and Restores Natural Bushland and Foreshore Areas

It is important to protect our natural bush and foreshore areas to:

  • maintain as much biodiversity and habitat as possible, ie. to ensure there are places for our native plants and animals;
  • ensure these areas can be enjoyed, observed, interacted with and learnt from by ourselves and our children;
  • to help keep our city visually attractive.

To manage and restore our natural bush and foreshore areas, the City of Melville Environmental Team carries out many different activities. Some of these activities include:

  • preparing management plans for each reserve;
  • implementing the actions within each management plan, eg. encouraging natural regeneration and/or revegetation of native species, weed and pest control, monitoring, research, improvement of facilities, etc.;
  • providing technical advice on environmental issues;
  • promoting community awareness and understanding of environmental issues;
  • applying for funding for special projects.
