Implements Sustainability Programs
The City of Melville has responded to the challenge of ecological sustainability by developing programs which improve Council operations and the lifestyle of residents.
For example, where appropriate and practical the City purchases products which minimise negative impacts on the environment.
The Civic Centre is a collection point for used batteries and mobile phones and is also home of a Green Office Program. This is a means of reducing the ecological impact associated with the office workplace.
Programs currently under development include offering residents a subsidised worm farm and compost bin, assisting with the establishment of native verge gardens and further water conservation actions.
