5.1 Management
The City has four (4) divisional Directors who are directly responsible to the Chief Executive Officer. The Directors oversee the running of the four (4) main Service Areas within the City - Customer and Corporate Services, Strategic Community Services, Technical and Development Services and Strategic Urban Planning and Projects.
The Executive Management Team is supported by eleven (11) Operational Managers who manage the day-to-day running of the operational areas.
All staff employed by the City are responsible to and report to the Chief Executive Officer.
5.2 THE COUNCIL
The Council is made up of members of the local community who are elected to office by residents and ratepayers of the City.
The Council is led by the Mayor and twelve (12) Councillors who serve in six wards – two (2) Councillors per ward. The wards are Bicton–Attadale, University, Palmyra–Melville–Willagee, Applecross–Mt Pleasant, City and the Bull Creek–Leeming Ward. As a group they are the decision and policy making body.
Each Councillor, and the Mayor, is elected for a four (4) year term. The next Local Government Elections will be held in October 2009.
