Notice of Intention to Levy Differential Rates
The City of Melville is in the process of finalising its budget for the 2013/2014 financial year. The funding proposals include the following principles in relation to each rating category for differential general rates and minimum rates.
Residential Improved Land
Residential land incorporates duplex, multi unit, strata, vacant land and Homeswest properties used for residential purposes. The rate in the dollar and minimum rates set for this category will be the basis from which the other differential rates in the dollar will be calculated.
Residential Unimproved Land
Residential unimproved land incorporates residential and Homeswest unimproved properties zoned for residential purposes. The rate in the dollar set for this category will be equal to that set for residential improved land plus 26 per cent. The minimum rates set for this category will be equal to that set for residential improved land.
All Commercial Improved and Unimproved Land
Commercial land incorporates industrial, commercial (includes retail and office uses), service station, hotel/tavern, TAB and hospitals. Commercial improved and unimproved land is proposed to have a rate in the dollar equal to that set for residential improved land plus 17 per cent. The minimum rates set for this category will be equal to that set for residential improved land plus 17 per cent.
A Statement of Objects and Reasons for adopting these differential general and minimum rates has been prepared and is available for inspection at the Civic Centre, 10 Almondbury Road, Booragoon between 8.30am and 5.00pm and at City of Melville libraries during normal library opening hours.
