Overview

Canning Bridge is a unique location at the confluence of the Swan and Canning Rivers.  The area has a rich past which includes Indigenous and river history, boat building, trams, and ferries. The precinct sits on a peninsular with sweeping views across the Swan River to the City of Perth skyline. The area is well serviced by public transport with frequent bus services, a train station, Canning Highway and Kwinana Freeway. There is a mix of Commercial (office, retail, restaurants and bars) and Residential uses.

The City of Melville has partnered with the City of South Perth and the Western Australian Planning Commission (through the Department of Planning) to investigate the long term planning vision for this precinct. The draft vision has been released to seek public comment.

Canning Bridge Precinct Vision Statement

The Canning Bridge Precinct will evolve to become a unique, vibrant, creative community, centred on the integrated transport node of the Canning Bridge rail station. The precinct will be recognised by its unique location, its integrated mix of office, retail, residential, recreational and cultural uses that create areas of excitement, the promotion of its local heritage and as a pedestrian friendly enclave that integrates with the regional transport networks, while enhancing the natural attractions of the Swan and Canning rivers.

Important Dates to Remember

Closing date for receipt of submissions:  5:00pm on Friday, 19 March 2010.

Due to significant interest in the project the closing date for receiving submissions has been extended to 5.00pm on Thursday, 1 April 2010.
