Fundraising activities are at the heart of what Friends of Lete-Foho & Hatolia are about.

We are always interested in people who are keen on fundraising activities or attending our events and would welcome any support that you can give us.

Our community projects will need a continuing sources of funds,  One of our fundraising activities include Timorese handcrafts and products are for sale throughout the year.

These include:

  • Timorese weavings/Tais

We have a large selection of Timorese Tais, beautifully hand woven cotton products in a wide colour selction.  They make stunning wall hangings, bed spreads of table clothes (various prices)

  • Delicious organic coffee

Packets of ground organic East Timorese coffee are available for $8.00 per 250g packets.

  • Hand crafted Cards

The City of Melville’s friendship relationship with the sub-districts of Lete-Foho and Hatolia in East Timor was formalised in October 2005 and November 2009 respectively.

Supported by the City of Melville, the group Melville Friends of LeteFoho and Hatolia consists mainly of local residents, who work tirelessly fundraising and going through informal channels to determine the local needs of the struggling community. The MFLH’s prime commitment is to education in East Timor.

The City of Melville support Melville Friends of Letefoho and Hatolia's unique and beautiful greeting cards on sale at libraries around the City of Melville and at the front counter.

These cards feature a range of East Timorese tais designs and are made using fabrics hand-woven by Timorese women.

The direct effect of purchasing these cards is twofold. Not only do all profits from sales go towards Melville Friends' educational projects in East Timor, the ordering and purchase of the tais provides profitable work for weavers – mostly women – in the country.

The contact person for the Melville Friends is member Joy Hornidge (9364 11620, who will coordinate the refill of the cards at libraries and Civic centre front counter.

The cards sell for $4.50 each, or two for $8.00.

If you are interested in purchasing any of these items, please call Alan on 9315 3958 of Margaret on 9364 6547
