What We Do

Since its foundation in 2005, the group has focused particularly on education-related capacity building by providing funds for teachers’ salaries, construction of class rooms, dormitories and toilets and the purchase of text books. Material resources provided include school furniture (desks, chairs, white boards, etc.), garden tools, sporting equipment, musical instruments and stationery (writing pads, pens, pencils, etc.). MFoH has raised over $100,000 since its inception.

Fund raising is achieved by donations and activities including quiz nights, film showings, sausage sizzles, concerts, special dinners and the sale of various products: tais (traditional Timorese fabrics), greeting cards, Timor coffee, jams and chocolate.

Partnerships with a number of Rotary Club provides ongoing support by collecting, packing and sending containers of school furniture, equipment and stationery for schools in Timore-Leste, including items requested by schools in the Hatolia district.
