Community Safety

Find out what the City is doing to create a Safer Melville and find out how to make your home safer.

Safer Melville was officially launched on the 6 August 2009 as part of the Safer Melville 2008 - 2012 Community Safety and Crime Prevention (CSCP) Plan.

The 2008 - 2012 CSCP Plan has successfully been implemented, and the 2012 - 2016 Safer Melville CSCP Plan has been developed. The 2012 - 2016 CSCP Plan builds on the success of the previous plan and will guide the City's efforts in promoting safety and crime prevention.

The 2008 - 2012 CSCP Plan was reviewed and as a result recommendations were made for the development of the 2012 - 2016 CSCP Plan. Successful projects and initiatives from the 2008 - 2012 CSCP Plan were flagged to be continued and a community engagement plan was implemented to identify the perception of safety in the community. The results from this, and analysis of crime statistics to determine the actual rate of crime in the City of Melville provided the City with key areas of focus for the plan. Key stakeholders provided  comment through their participation in the Safer Melville Advisory Committee who endorsed the plan at the November 2012 meeting.
